It may only be September, but preparations are already underway for one of our favorite annual traditions: Stuff a Stocking.

Each year, the initiative brings members of our community together to fill stockings for children aged three to sixteen whose families use the Runnymede Foodbank, based in Chertsey. Last year, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we filled and delivered 375 stockings.

Starting early gives us time to prepare, gather support, and ensure each stocking contains a thoughtful selection of age-appropriate gifts, including books, crafts, toiletries, clothing, and small toys. Together, these items create something special: a stocking chosen with care and a reminder that someone in the community is thinking of them.

Fill a Stocking

If you are local to Runnymede, we can provide an empty stocking along with a suggested shopping list. You can fill it yourself and return it to us by the 9th of November, ready for us to check, label, and deliver.

If you would like to contribute but do not have time to fill a stocking, you can donate individual items and we will put one together on your behalf.

Support Us from Afar

You do not need to be nearby to take part. Our Amazon Wish List includes items that can be purchased and sent directly to us for the stockings.

Every donation helps, whether it is a book to spark someone’s imagination, art supplies for a creative afternoon, something warm to wear, or an everyday essential.

Partner with Us

Local businesses, schools, and organizations can also support the initiative by sponsoring the project and filling stockings as a group. It is a simple way for colleagues or communities to take part together and help us reach more children.

Last year, TASIS The American School in England, The Strong Ladies Club, and Chertsey-based Air Products all stepped up to support the project. We are delighted that TASIS The American School in England and The Strong Ladies Club have already committed to taking part again this year.

Lend a Hand

There are also plenty of ways to help behind the scenes. Volunteers support us by labeling and tagging stockings, checking that each one includes a balanced selection of gifts, and joining us for the final stocking-stuffing sessions.

These practical contributions are an important part of making sure every stocking is complete and ready to reach the right child.
